We are determined to highlight exceptional students each month by nominating and selecting a STUDENT of the Month for each grade.
STUDENT SPOTLIGHTS - APRIL 2021
Student of the Month - 9th grade
Walker Woodall
New to SDHS as a freshman, Walker showed up to Zoom on the first day ready to learn, engage, and share his light with the rest of the 9th grade class. We are happy to celebrate him as our 9th grade AOFE student of the month. Walker is an exemplary student who offers his thought-provoking insights during class, knows how to advocate for himself and others, and is always willing to help and participate. Navigating the difficult road of starting high school without ever stepping foot on the campus or knowing any of the other students, Walker has done this with grace and enthusiasm. When he’s not at school, Walker is a budding horticulturalist and competitive tumbler. We love having Walker as part of our AOFE family.
Student of the month - 10th grade
Angel Martinez
Angel has shined as the AOFE 10th grade student of the month. Angel earned this recognition due to his dedication to his studies, contributions in class and to the program, and consistent effort to put forth his best work. A great leader amongst his peers, Angel is kind, ambitious, and a model AOFE student. When he’s not at school, Angel shows off his musical prowess making sick beats. We are so proud to celebrate Angel this month!
Student of the month - 11th grade
Jarizbeth Roman
Jarizbeth has gone above in beyond in not only adapting to the reality of hybrid learning but in really excelling in that environment. For example, in addition to submitting outstanding work in American Literature, she has requested a personal copy of Norton Anthology of American Literature so that she might continue her studies over the summer. Her dedication to continued study is ever present and evident in her work. In Math, she asks thoughtful questions to deepen her understanding. She also demonstrates perseverance in the face of difficulties, and seeks out assistance when she needs it. She models excellent engagement and participation in all of her classes .
Student of the month - 12th grade
Alexandra Rojas Huaman
Alexandra is an outstanding student, deserving of every accolade we can hoist upon her shoulders. She has excelled in every class this year and will soon be at the University of San Diego to further refine her skills necessary to become a force in the world of business.
